A sculpting tutuorial with a focus on Sonic characters for :iconsancosity:. It doesn't cover eeeeeverything, but it's a good look into how I sculpt.

My box of Sculpey clay says, "DO NOT OVERBAKE!" So would baking in between layers with this stuff be bad? What happens when you overbake anyway? :XD:

Awesome tutorial though! It's been very helpful!

Oh my god. I never thought to bake the darn things before adding more details - smudging out things by accident always drove me nuts and so I haven't tried sculpting again in AGES.

Thanks so much for these tips!

Okay, I lied, another quick question: If you're not working with a base, are you gripping the piece as you work with it?

*Very* useful, thank you. I'm thinking of trying sculpting for the first time, and I have been looking around Deviantart for tutorials before I even purchase the materials. This was by far the most easy to follow. :)

Question though? When you bake it between layers, how long is each back for?

... this totally makes me want to go out and buy materials so I can finally give this a go. I have been wanting to be able to sculpt my own characters and stuff for -ages-! This gives me an idea of where to really start! Thank you!

No prob ;D I hope you give it a try! It's such an awesome feeling to sculpt your own characters and have them in 3D form. It also really helps feed back into your drawing.
